Each wordsearch entry is a term for a specific direction, or something known to go in certain directions. However none of the entries travel in the correct direction in the grid (e.g. SOUTHEAST goes south and ELEVATOR goes to the right instead of up/down).
As the flavortext hints, for each entry, the solver needs to travel the same number of spaces in the appropriate direction, then highlight the letter where they end up. In left-to-right top-to-bottom order, the highlighted letters spell ANSWER DRINK.
